Love glows like a steady rose-colored lamp. Mina learns to feel its warmth, offer it with care, and keep a beam for herself—even when someone she loves steps away.

Hello, Love

A Rose-Gold Glow

At dusk Mama lit the little bedside lamp. It bloomed rosy and round.

Mina felt the same warmth when Pip leaned beside her without making a sound.

“What is this steady feeling?” she asked as it glimmered from her chest to her toes.

Ponder smiled. “It is Love. Sometimes quiet as lamplight, sometimes bright as a rose.”

Pip asked for a cuddle. Mina said yes gladly. Their shoulders went snug.

Ponder wanted no squeezing. He chose tea poured carefully. Love was not only a hug.

Mama listened to Mina. Mina saved Pip a biscuit. Each kindness shone through.

“Love can ask first,” Mama said by the lamp. “And kindly hear a no, too.”

Three Beams from One Lamp

Ponder cut three paper beams and laid them by lamplight: FEEL, SHARE, and KEEP.

“Feel warmth in your middle. Share some when it’s welcome. Keep some when you sleep.”

Mina tucked KEEP in her pocket. Pip balanced SHARE on his ear. FEEL lay on her knee.

The rose-gold glow widened. It did not grow smaller. There was plenty for three.

Then Mama said, “I’m taking a cup to the kitchen. I’ll come straight back.”

Mina’s glow gave a wobble. “Does love leave the room when the person steps out?”

Pip watched the open doorway. Ponder held up KEEP. The lamp stayed alight.

Mina breathed with its warmth. Mama called, “Still close!” Love held steady and bright.

Pip’s tower of cushions slumped with a floof and covered his blue book.

Mina wanted to fix it. First she asked, “Would you like my help finding your book?”

“Yes, please,” Pip answered. Together they lifted. There it was—peek-a-boo!

Mina handed him SHARE. The lamp gave a shimmer. Helpful love listened too.

A Beam for Mina

Soon Mina felt weary. She almost gave Ponder her last piece of pear.

Then KEEP tickled her pocket. “I need this one,” she said. “There is still love to share.”

Mama nodded proudly. “Caring for your own needs keeps your lamp burning well.”

Mina ate the sweet slice. The rose glow stayed gentle. No one’s lovingness fell.

Love and Cross Can Coexist

Pip grabbed the gold crayon before Mina had finished. Her eyebrows went tight.

“I love you,” she told him, “and I’m cross. Please return it.” Both things could be right.

Pip handed it back. “Sorry. May I use it later?” Mina answered, “Yes.”

Love did not demand smiling. It made room for a boundary and helped mend the mess.

A Lamp Made of Paper

They folded the three beams round a safe paper lantern with no flame inside.

Pip drew helpful paws. Ponder drew listening ears. Mina drew Mama nearby.

Mama added a doorway and a line coming back. “Love stretches,” she said.

The paper lamp glowed in their make-believe night while the real lamp shone red.
